Focus lens is one of the key components of a fiber laser cutting machine, it is fixed in the low part of centering module, which near to the processing material. Therefore, it is easily polluted by the dust and smoke. It’s necessary to clean the focus lens everyday so as to ensure the working efficiency.

Firstly, in order to prevent the wear and corrosion of lens, the surface of optical instrument shouldn’t be touched by our hand. So there’s some precautions need to be noticed before cleaning the focus lens.

Wear a pair of flimsy gloves after washing your hands, and then take it from the side of lens. Focus lens should be put on the professional lens paper, and you could use an air spray gun to clean the dust and sludge that resemble in the mirror holder.

And when you install the focus lens to the cutting head, don’t pull or push it great strength to prevent the deformation and influence the beam quality.

When the mirror is flat and there is no lens holder, use lens paper to clean;

When it is a curved or mirrored surface with a lens holder, use a cotton swab to clean it. Specific steps are as follows:

To clean the surface of the lens, you should place the clean side of the lens paper flat on the surface of the lens, add 2 to 3 drops of high-purity alcohol or acetone, slowly pull out the lens paper horizontally toward the operator, and repeat the above actions several times until the lens surface is clean, it is forbidden to apply pressure on the lens paper to prevent scratches.

If the lens surface is very dirty, fold the lens paper 2 to 3 times and repeat the above steps until the lens surface is clean. Do not drag dry lens paper directly on the mirror surface.

Steps to clean the lens with a cotton swab: First step you could use a spray gun to blow off the dust on the mirror; then use a clean cotton swab to remove the dirt;

A cotton swab dipped in high-purity alcohol or acetone moves in a circular motion from the center of the lens to scrub the lens. After each week, replace it with another.

A clean cotton swab, repeat the above operation until the lens is clean; observe the cleaned lens until there is no dirt on the surface of the lens.

If there are debris that is not easy to remove on the surface of the lens, rubber air can be used to blow the surface of the lens.

After cleaning, reconfirm that there are no residues of the following: detergent, absorbent cotton, foreign matter, impurities.
